Becoming a Cortian

-
Cortians are highly curious, innovative, and passionate humans. Together, we are changing the world of healthcare, one new hire at a time!
Kayla Brooks Senior GTM Recruiter
Applying for a new role can be daunting, and a transparent hiring process is one of the first things we hope can help you better understand what to expect. When you apply at Corti, we want to make sure that you are confident in understanding the process from the first day.
There are some specific things that we search for in future Cortians that we write out in the job descriptions, but we acknowledge that we can never really know who "the perfect candidate" is. Regardless of the role, we're always looking for more ambitious people with a growth mindset to join our brilliant team. Therefore, we encourage you to apply if you believe you're a good fit at Corti and don't necessarily "tick all the boxes."

The first step of Corti's recruitment process entails the recruiters reviewing the inbox stage, where your application comes in. Here, the recruiters take charge and review countless applications, including yours. This is where the recruiters want to learn a little bit about you, why you chose Corti, and why this role is the perfect fit for you.
π What do recruiters look for in your application?
The recruiters screen through many resumes daily, which means that it's going to be important for you to have a clear overview of your experience, highlighting your previous achievements and how they are relevant to what you're applying for. Additionally, the recruiters seek clear communication, solid reasoning for joining Corti, and one or two examples explaining why you're a good fit for the role. Additionally, this is a chance for you to let your personality shine, whether that's through a video, image, or creative writing.π When will you hear back from us?
You will always hear back from us after applying, but remember that Corti's recruiters sometimes have a few roles open, so they can take up to a week to respond. -
We want to ensure we're building a team of the absolute best people. Therefore, it's essential to get an introduction to your preferred work style, which gives us an insight into how your strengths will align with the tasks you'll be doing. For those insights, we use the Predictive Index (PI) as part of our recruitment processes, which you'll have 3 days to submit after receiving them in your inbox.
The PI is an assessment tool that all Cortians have taken at Corti. The tool looks at behavioral preferences and cognitive aptitude. The recruiter and hiring manager use this as support to understand whether you'd be the perfect fit for the role. We also the PI internally for team members to better understand each others way's of working and how they could collaborate better. It's not used as a purely go/no-go decision tool for hiring, and all recruiters treat each result differently depending on the profile they're reviewing.
π What recruiters and hiring managers look for during this step
Recruiters include the PI assessments as part of an overall holistic approach to recruitment. It helps them understand you better and how you could catch up with role demands, solve problems, and understand the job's complexity. Additionally, the recruiter can better understand your preferred communication method and see how you'd likely interact with employees with different behavioral profiles.π When will you hear back after this step?
You'll always receive a response from the PI. As Corti conducts these assessments on an ongoing basis, timing can differ. Your recruiter will update you on what's next after they receive the results. Here, the recruiter is also your point of contact for any follow-up questions. -
Now it's time for you to meet your recruiter! Here, the recruiters want to get to know you more as a person, to know about your motivations, and to give you more information about the role. You can use this time to find out if Corti is the workplace that you're looking for and learn more beyond the job posting. Here, the team loves getting all the questions that you'll have!
π What recruiters love in this interview
Recruiters love it when candidates have reflected on what's important to them in a role. It helps them understand if Corti can offer you what you need. You should prepare for this interview by going through past positions or experiences. The recruiters are interested in your previous experience, your teams, and any significant accomplishments you're proud of. Additionally, the recruiters might ask about what you like, what you want more of, and why you want to make a change. Of course, the recruiters might also probe about specific skills required for various roles!π When will a candidate hear back after this interview?
From this stage onwards, everyone receives a response. As Corti recruiters conduct these calls on an ongoing basis, the timing of the response can differ. Your recruiter will update you on what's next during the call. The recruiter is also the point of contact for any follow-up questions about practicalities like salary, location, and remote working. -
Suppose all goes well in the initial interview with your recruiter. In that case, you will next meet your future leader, who is also your hiring manager! During this call, you and the hiring manager will discuss your experience and how your skills align with the role. You'll also get to learn more about what your day-to-day would look like.
π What is the hiring manager usually looking for?
In addition to talking about your past experience, you'll also be expected to talk about everything from your ambitions to specific skills.π When will you hear back?
Following this interview, you'll be kept in the loop when you'll hear back. It can take up to 3-5 days to hear back from the recruiter. -
The case study is where you'll best understand what you might be doing daily. This is where the hiring manager wants to learn more about how you solve problems. Depending on the role, this could be a role-play sales call or a technical coding assessment. You'll present the challenge to the hiring manager and 1-2 future team members who help make the hiring manager decide on the next decision.
π Good to remember
This interview is usually combined with "6. Meeting the team", where you'll meet your future team members and get to know them better.π When will the candidate hear back after this stage
After this stage, all people involved must give the recruiter feedback, but the hiring manager will advise on the next steps. This can take up to 3 days. -
After the Corti challenge, and usually in the same interview, you'll meet people from the team you might join. You'll get the best feel for what to expect regarding colleagues and culture and should understand after this interview if Corti is the place for you.
π Good to remember
We encourage you to ask the people you might be working with as many questions as possible. After all, just like we need to find the perfect person for the role, you need to find the perfect company for yourself. -
You're coming very close to the finish line! The final interview at Corti is meeting a member of our management team. Here, we believe the hiring process has gone full circle where you've been introduced to our culture, your future team, and now, what type of leadership you would work with. We recommend learning more about the overall company goals so that you can best understand Corti as a company.
π Good to remember
There's no need to be stressed at this stage; you're already so far! This is to ensure that the company you might be joining has leadership you can be proud of. Equally, it's important for leaders at Corti to get to know the ones they'll be working with.π When will you hear back?
You won't have to wait long after this interview. In most cases, the recruiter and hiring manager have already compiled all your notes and feedback up until now, and you'll hear back shortly after your final call. -
It's showtime! If the final interview is successful, you'll receive an offer from Corti. If you say "yes" to our offer, you'll be moved to the People Team, where you'll start Corti's onboarding program. We couldn't be more excited to have you soon join the team!
